As a trained lawyer, lobbyist, journalist, military officer, and association management professional, Robert G. Drummer, J.D., CAE possesses a unique combination of skills that enable him to provide his clients exceptional government and public affairs counsel and representation. Mr. Drummer has over 10 years experience in representing corporations, governmental entities, trade associations, and non-profit organizations before the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. Prior to starting Drummer & Associates, LLC, Mr. Drummer served as Vice President for Government Affairs and General Counsel for the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA). AMSA has approximately 3,500 members worldwide and represents the entire spectrum of the domestic moving and storage industry.

From 1999-2003, Mr. Drummer served as the moving industry's government and public affairs representative before Congress, federal agencies, and the judiciary on appropriations, energy, judiciary, labor/employment, small business, tax, and transportation issues. Mr. Drummer submitted both oral and written testimony on behalf of AMSA's members before Congressional hearings, administrative rulemaking proceedings, and various courts as Amicus Curiae. He also organized and managed AMSA's grassroots campaigns as well as its political action committee- AMPAC.

From 1996-99, Mr. Drummer served as Director of Government and Public Relations for the National Technical Services Association (NTSA), NTSA is comprised of over 250 technical services companies that provide a wide range of engineering, IT/IS, scientific, and other technology-based professional staffing services to public and private businesses. Mr. Drummer represented member interests before Congress and federal agencies on a variety of public policy issues, such as labor, immigration reform, and tax relief.

In 1995, Mr. Drummer served as an Associate in the Government Relations Group of the former Silver Springs, MD law firm of Alexander, Aponte, & Marks, LLP, where he represented municipal clients before Congress and federal agencies, primarily on environmental issues involving airport improvements and expansion.

From 1994-95, Mr. Drummer served as Press Secretary and Legislative Assistant for Congressman Alcee Hastings (23d-FL). Prior to that, he served as Legislative Assistant to the Director of the Department of General Services for the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1992-94.

In addition to his lobbying experience, Mr. Drummer serves as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army Reserves, providing Legal Assistance in the form of estate planning, as well as advising soldiers and their family members of their rights and responsibilities under the Soldiers' and Sailors Civil Relief Act and the Uniformed Services Employment Rights and Re-employment Act.

A native of Albany, GA, Mr. Drummer earned his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in Athens, GA (1992) and his B.A. in Mass Communications from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA (1987). He is admitted to practice law in Georgia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court.

His professional accomplishments include but are not limited to his selection by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) to participate in its Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP), which is an accelerated leadership program of education and volunteer service designed to help individuals from underrepresented segments of the association community advance into the ranks of leadership in the association management profession.

Mr. Drummer has also earned ASAE's Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation. The CAE program is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and designate those who demonstrate knowledge essential to the practice of association management.

Mr. Drummer is an active member of the American League of Lobbyists (ALL) and the Washington Government Relations Group (WGRG), where he serves on the Board of Directors. Mr. Drummer also volunteers in various community service programs through his church (Alfred Street Baptist Church, Alexandria, VA) and fraternity (Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc.).

Mr. Drummer resides in Dumfries, VA with his wife Paula, and their three daughters, Averi, Edithe, and Amanda.
